AP is revealing the next story arc for Batman which may be part of the reason why the Batman solicits have not been revealed yet. “The Year Zero” is the 11 issue arc teased by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo. According to the news this morning, it is not another retelling origin story, however it is to show how Batman is who he is in the new 52.
“We tried to preserve as much of Batman’s history as we could and keep what we could of this history intact,” Snyder said of the change. “It’s ‘The Zero Year,’ the one that no one has told the story of before. We see how Bruce became the Batman, built the cave, faced off with his first super villain.”
Also for those who may fear, Snyder confirms they are not tearing apart Batman Year One:
“We’re not going to take apart ‘Year One,'” Snyder said, referring to the Frank Miller-David Mazzucchelli four-issue arc that recounted how Wayne began to fight crime after years away.
“It’s time for a new story showing how Batman became who he is in the New 52,” said Snyder. “It builds up the mythology.”
Bleeding Cool is also reporting that Riddler will be making an appearance in this arc.
Batman #0 confirms now that the Red Hood Gang will probably be used. Who else from the Batman Family do you want to see used? Will Dick Grayson, Tim Drake, and Jason Todd play a part in this arc? What role will Catwoman play? What new characters may be introduced? So what do you think?
