Detroit Could Be the Next City to be Called Gotham on Film

With Man of Steel 2/Batman Vs. Superman scheduled to start shooting in February, location scouting has began for the next city to be Gotham. Click the jump to see more.

A couple weeks ago, a source revealed that Batfans may be rewarded with not only a new Batman, Ben Affleck notwithstanding, but a new live-action Gotham City, which I was excited to hear. I really wanted to see a live-action juxtaposition of a bright and vibrant Metropolis vs. a dark and grim Gotham. Well, since Man of Steel 2/Batman Vs. Superman is prepping itself to have cameras rolling by February, location scouting should be in full effect.

According to a source, it looks like Detroit, Michigan could be our next on-screen Gotham City, taking over the title from Pittsburgh in Dark Knight Rises and Chicago for Dark Knight and Batman Begins. Now, I don’t know very much about Detroit, but with the way it’s been portrayed in media and the stereotypes surrounding the city, I’d say it’s a pretty good choice. For the residents of Detroit, you guys have got to be happy to hear this news, right? I remember the amateur snapshots of GPD patrol cars roaming around Pittsburgh and thinking about how awesome that was. Hopefully, you Detroiters will be able to spot some cool Gotham City set and/or props.
