Batman:Eternal #27 Review

Synopsis: In the grips of martial law, the criminal underground is going berserk – and the only person who can stop it is…Catwoman?!

Though Hush has haunted the pages of Batman:Eternal the past few weeks, he takes a backseat in issue #27. He’s not forgotten, but isn’t brought into the story really either. Anyways, this issue is all about the search for Jade, the girl who made her presence known back in issue #23. Why is she so important? What does she have to do with Killer Croc? Why is she delivered to a home that’s housing 23 animals?! Unfortunately, we don’t get the answer. We are just left with an angry Croc, Batman and Catwoman have a love spat, a reemergence of a flamingo (remember him?) and Batman making an ally in his war on crime (spoiler alert: it’s…umm… Spoiler).

This issue was a decent start to the second half of the Eternal run. Tim Seeley took over scripting this week, while Javier Garron handled the drawings. I must say, Garron’s work really stuck out to me. It’s a unique approach to comics in that it’s fresh, yet still “comic-booky”, if that makes any sense.

Another enjoyable read, but nothing earth-shattering here. You won’t be disappointed either way.
