Morena Baccarin Promoted to Series Regular in Gotham Season 2

Morena Baccarin in Gotham

TV Line has broken the news that Firefly and Homeland actress Morena Baccarin, who featured heavily in Gotham‘s debut season as Dr. Leslie Thompkins, has officially been promoted to series regular as the show heads into its second year. Her character was initially introduced in the show to add a love triangle, usurping the expected romance of Gordon and Barbara. As the season developed, she became a much more prominent love interest and a valuable character with her own set of skills to offer the show’s investigative nature.

Reportedly, the option of becoming a regular in the second season was in Baccarin’s original contract. It’s a good thing she decided to exercise it, too, because her character is one of the best things in a show that, after a series of ups and downs, is still finding its footing.

Stay tuned for more news as Gotham develops and expect to see the second season premiere this Fall on FOX.
