Now that the Batman Arkham franchise has concluded with Rocksteady’s Arkham Knight, many are left wondering what’s next. Count longtime Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy as part of that lot. Rumors have been swirling about a Justice League game, since many feel that is the next logical step. When asked if he’d be willing to lend his voice to such a game, Conroy thankfully showed enthusiasm.
“Oh yeah! Absolutely. I would love to do that. It’s really hard to record games and very hard to create them, but the result is so rewarding that it makes it worthwhile at the end.”
Although Arkham Knight was the final chapter in Rocksteady’s series, I among others think that WB has to be cooking up something. Sure, Injustice was highly successful, but that was a fighting game and WB no doubt would like an action/ adventure game that will sell millions of copies in the not too distant future. Apparently Conroy does have a desire to continue the Arkhamverse, though it may be tricky.
“I just hope they figure out some way to have [Batman: Arkham Knight] segue into a new chapter, but I don’t know how they could because it’s such a frightening ending. It’s such a great concept, of Batman fighting his way out of Arkham, the different battles he’s gotten into in Arkham, I’d hate to think that is the end of that story. I understand it’s the third part of the trilogy and it’s the end of the arc, but I hope they can figure out some way to translate it into something else. I don’t know how they could, though, because the end is so frightening.”
Continuing his tradition of spilling some beans, Conroy spoke of something Justice League related for the upcoming New York Comic Con.
“We’re doing a Justice League appearance at New York Comic-Con in a couple of months. They’re bringing as many of [the original voice cast] together as they can, I think because of the DVD release or something. It’s because of something that’s about to be released from the old series.”
This is most interesting to me because I am wondering what kind of home video release or re-release from the old series WB wants to hype. Justice League and Justice League Unlimited have been released via complete season sets on DVD as well as in various compilations and a complete series set. However, I did check Blu-ray releases and only Justice League Seasons 1 and 2 have been released in that format, not Justice League Unlimited. Perhaps that’s what it could be. Still, it makes me excited for whatever DC animation news will come out of NYCC.
