Tim Drake is still struggling to be the Batman that Gotham needs him to be and, in this issue, he leaves Gotham for a reason that no one, including myself, seems to know why. Now Tim sets off an adventure to Metropolis with Green Lantern’s ring in hand, and new dangers await every step of the way.
I’m not quite sure what Jurgens is thinking during this story arc, but “slow” doesn’t even begin to describe the past couple of issues. As I’ve said in the past, I’m totally cool with slower issues every now and again to better set up the story as a whole, but this is getting a little ridiculous. What I said in the above paragraph about “he leaves Gotham for a reason that no one, including myself, seems to know why” is not a lie even in the slightest. The actual story is never really even hinted at in this issue or the preceding one, and it’s getting a bit annoying.
Despite the lackluster story, the action in this issue is well done and the art compliments it very well. I’ve loved Chang’s art on the book since it started and it continues to blow me away with each issue.
I feel, genuinely, terrible, but there really isn’t much to talk about in this issue. Nothing was really explained or expanded upon and the issue was just incredibly slow. It’s starting to feel like work reading these past couple of issues and I can only hope that the story starts to pick up soon.
