According to TV Line‘s Mike Ausiello, Vicki Vale will be joining the cast of Gotham for its third season. Fans of the comics or the Tim Burton film will know her as an off-and-on love interest of Bruce Wayne/Batman but that will definitely not be the case here as Bruce is still a young teenager and Vale is reported to be a journalist in her late twenties on the show.
Given how uncomfortable the pseudo-sexualization of Silver St. Cloud was last season, it’s probably best that Bruce not have a love interest other than his conflicted relationship with Selina for the forseeable future. It will also be nice to see Vale act on her own outside of simply being known as a love interest.
Of course, that does leave one to wonder what her role in the show will actually be. Details on that are still being kept under wraps, so we’ll just have to keep speculating for now.
