Gotham found their Mad Hatter: Benedict Samuel of The Walking Dead fame!
While Samuel is casted to play a recurring role as Jervis Tetch, not much yet is known about the nature of his role or how big of a part he will play in Gotham’s overarching story. However, they did release a brief blurb about his character and motivations:
” [Tetch is] a talented hypnotist teetering on the edge of madness. He arrives in Gotham with an unwavering desire to find his sister, Alice, a young woman who went missing in the city years ago. It is anyone’s guess just how far down the rabbit hole he’s willing to go in order to find her.”
Interesting small, but subtle changes for Tetch’s character. Instead of being a genius who developed mind controlling technology, he is a hypnotist. And instead of being infatuated over a woman named Alice, he is obsessed with finding his lost sister who is named Alice. It remains to be seen how these changes will affect his character in the show.
The Gotham season 3 premiere will be September 19, 2016.
