‘Game of Thrones’ Actor Ciaran Hinds Cast as Steppenwolf in ‘Justice League’

Although Justice League has recently wrapped production, The Wrap has finally revealed the actor who is bringing the DC Comics villain to life. Game of Thrones star Ciaran Hinds brought the character to life via motion capture, which is unsurprising given both the stature and design of the villain and the fact that we’re only finding out the casting after filming has wrapped.

Typically in the comics, Steppenwolf is portrayed as a lieutenant to major DC cosmic baddie Darkseid. Surely the villain’s presence in the film can only signal the coming of an even larger threat down the line.

Steppenwolf made his first DC Extended Universe appearance in a deleted scene from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which was restored for the extended edition release. It’s been said that his look will be updated from the glimpse that we saw at the end of that film.

The film will be the fifth entry into the DC Extended Universe, following Man of Steel, this year’s Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad and next year’s Wonder Woman.

Justice League hits theaters on November 17th, 2017.
