Photographer Shoots Abandoned Batman Nightclub

There used to be a Batman-themed nightclub in this world.

Let that sink in.

There used to be a Batman-themed nightclub, where people could dance, drink, chat and reminisce about their favorite superhero. All in the name of the Dark Knight. Why is this not happening today?

Anyways, photographer Dax Ward discovered the abandoned Batman-themed nightclub in Pattaya, Thailand and blessed the public with pictures.

Closing the Cave

Ward’s website states the nightclub was operating over 20 years ago until it was shut down, leaving the building abandoned ever since. It served as a hip spot for nightlife, but an electrical fire killed people inside, forcing the place to close. As for the plethora of graffiti now seen inside, it’s a result of a street art festival and what he calls “freelancers”.

The original idea itself is ambitious, and it’s a shame about the tragedy that happened there. The Daily Mail however, is reporting that the building was shut down just a year-and-a-half after opening due to counts of underage drinking and drug use.

Sounds like a job for Batman.

Either way, creepy yet beautiful pictures of a once thriving establishment. One can only wonder if it may have inspired a location in last year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Okay, maybe that’s a stretch. But you get the idea.
