Geoff Johns Hard At Work On New Titans Show

Earlier this week, DC Entertainment announced they will be launching a new, direct-to-consumer, digital service, that at launch will be the home to Young Justice Season 3 and a brand new live-action Teen Titans series.

The service, along with the previously mentioned shows, won’t be debuting until 2018, but Geoff Johns is already hard at work writing the new series.  Yesterday morning, the esteemed DC writer tweeted out “Enjoying an early Friday writing…” along with a picture of Teen Titans art.

In the image, we see Robin (unconfirmed which, but looks like Tim), Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy, Cyborg, Superboy, Wonder Girl, and Kid Flash.

We still know very little about this new series, so it’s hard to say if this will officially be the Titans team in the show or not.  We also don’t know of the show’s connection, if any, to the DC Extended Universe.

DC has already proved they have no issues with different interpretations of a character appearing at the same time, with the Flash and Superman both appearing in the DC Extended Universe films, while also appearing separately on the CW shows.  So it’s possible they will use a different Victor Stone for the TV version of Cyborg, which could help for budgetary reasons since the film version of Cyborg is so CGI intensive.

However, this show could act as an Agents of SHIELD like show, that eludes to the greater film universe, but tells its own contained stories, with the possibility of cameo appearances from bigger names.  With so much of the DC Extended Universe up in the air, this will allow the film version of Cyborg to live on, while also serving as a platform to introduce the audience to the film version of Robin.

Joining Geoff Johns is Akiva Goldsman (Batman Forever, Transformers: The Last Knight) and Greg Berlanti.  The show will be executive produced by Johns, Goldsman, Berlanti, and Sarah Schechter (Arrow, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, and Supergirl).

The Titans are “a group of young soon-to-be superheroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe.”

What are your thoughts on this newly announced series?  And what lineup would you like to see them use?  How do you feel about it being on the newly announced DC digital service?  Let us know!
