A few months back, Zack Snyder had to step down from finishing post-production on the epic team-up film, Justice League. It was reported then that Joss Whedon would step in and finish the film, which also included minor reshoots. Of course, WB/DC have been very tight-lipped regarding the extent of the reshoots, especially when reshoots make everyone nervous.
A few days ago, actor Joe Morton, who plays Dr. Silas Stone in Batman v Superman and will reprise his role in Justice League, spoke a little too candidly that I’m afraid he might get in trouble with the studio. Though he wasn’t quite as involved in the reshoots, he did mention hearsay, but confirmed that Cyborg’s character had went through a few changes.
On Friday, Batfleck himself briefly discussed the reshoots in Justice League with Entertainment Weekly. A true studio veteran, he knew to remain a little more vague. He mentioned how reshoots are for the most part, very normal and do not indicate any trouble with the film, explaining “I’ve never worked on a movie that didn’t do reshoots. Argo, we did reshoots for a week and a half! Four days on Gone Baby Gone!”
He was a little candid regarding the choice of using two different directors, pointing out how jarring it is.
He says:
“It’s a little bit unorthodox. Zack had a family tragedy, and stepped off, which was horrible. For the movie, the best person we could’ve possibly found was Joss. We got really lucky that he stepped in. [The film is] an interesting product of two directors, both with kind of unique visions, both with really strong takes. I’ve never had that experience before making a movie. I have to say, I really love working with Zack, and I really love the stuff we’ve done with Joss.”
Ever the studio ambassador, he remains very diplomatic about the production, expressed an opinion without revealing anything about the reshoots whatsoever and consistently praising production. It seems we’re not going to get very much from this guy.
He remains extremely optimistic regarding DC films, “This is a really nice time to work in DC. They’re hitting their stride. They’re getting it right. It’s starting to feel like it’s really working.”
Justice League will hit theatres on November 17, 2017.
