It’s been a little over a month since Justice League hit theaters. While it continues to disappoint at the box office, fans seem to still be split on the matter. Some fans like the new, lighter tone that Whedon injected into the story, while others are petitioning to get Snyder’s cut released and think Whedon’s work was heresy. Personally, I thought the film was fine, but we should expect more for DC’s greatest heroes. Here’s hoping the next era of DC Films learn from their mistakes and we get quality films going forward.
Recently, a couple of videos have surfaced online for Justice League. The first is a 2 minute featurette that shows a lot of behind the scenes work that was done. Interestingly, it doesn’t seem to include any of Whedon’s stuff, since we only see Snyder directing the actors, but it’s possible that this footage was captured before the long reshoots took place. While Ray Fisher was likely the most comfortable actor on set, one has to suspect he must’ve been a little jealous of his colleagues who actually got to dress up as their heroes.
The other video that has surfaced online is a deleted scene of Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) rescuing Iris West (Kiersey Clemons). The entire character of Iris West was deleted for the film, which obviously includes this scene, so some of the special effects aren’t complete and there isn’t even any music or sound in some parts. But you can view it here:
The shot of Barry breaking the glass was included in a few of the promotional trailers and videos leading up to the film, but like Iris, it was not in the final cut. It seems the original intention was to flesh out Barry’s character more to help set up for his solo movie, but for whatever reason, they decided not to pursue that. Who knows how many additional scenes Iris was originally slated to appear in, or if there were more scenes with his father in the original script.
