Joaquin Phoenix Brushes Off Expectations For Joker

Hearing Joaquin Phoenix‘s response to what fan expectations of his Joker are is a real breath of fresh air. In a recent interview with Indiewire the actor had come clean on how he really feels.

In recent years more and more Actors and Actresses have dealt with almost an unending onslaught of criticism from sections of the fan base. These range all over the spectrum from Star Wars and Infinity War to the upcoming TV series Titans.

Shake It Off

From what Joaquin states in the interview, it is very clear that his focus is on the character and what his take on it will be. He is not concerned with whether people are going to like it or not, but concerned with giving the best he can to the role. This is in the same vein as what he has done in all his other roles when prepping:

I could care less. I don’t really think that much about what people think. Who cares, who cares? My approach to every movie is the same. What I’m interested in is the filmmaker and the idea of the character.

Dancing In The Moonlight

The upcoming project, set to start filming in September, is rumored to be an origin story that is different from anything we’ve previously seen involving the Clown Prince Of Crime’s story. For myself personally, I am excited to see what they are going to do with an already staggering amount of talent signing on. With the likes of Robert De Niro, Francis Conroy, and comedian Marc Maron lending their talents, the movie is shaping up nicely and has great potential.

What are your thoughts readers? Are you as excited as we are to see this new grittier version of The Joker’s origins? Let us know in the comments below.
