It was announced in the last few days that Alec Baldwin will be playing the role of Thomas Wayne in the solo Joker movie. It has been revealed however, that the part was turned down by Viggo Mortensen.

It certainly would have been a fantastic casting choice, if Mortensen had accepted the role. Most well known for his role in the Lord of the Rings trilogy as Aragorn, Mortensen would have easily fit the role of Thomas Wayne. Sadly, it was not to be.
Baldwin is definitely an excellent choice to play the role of Bruce Wayne’s father however, and I look forward to seeing how he’ll portray the character.
