Anticipation

DC has announced that the upcoming Black Label series Batman: Three Jokers has been given a new release date of Tuesday, August 25. The series was previously scheduled to make its debut on June 17, with the date needing to be changed following the comics industry stopping production due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

From the Editor-In-Chief

DC SVP and Editor-In-Chief Bob Harras gave this statement:

As more stores are finding ways to operate and service their customers, our release schedule is under constant review. From placing orders to on sale, moving Batman: Three Jokers to August will enable more stores to order and sell this incredible story that Geoff (Johns) and Jason (Fabok) have crafted.

Worth the Wait

The three-issue, 48-page prestige format limited series will carry the Black Label content descriptor for mature readers 17-years of age or older. DC changed from Wednesdays to a Tuesday release day for new comics after resuming publication through new distributors Lunar Distribution and UCS Comic Distributors.

Thirty years after Batman: The Killing Joke changed comics forever, Three Jokers reexamines the myth of who, or what, The Joker is and what is at the heart of his eternal battle with the Dark Knight. New York Times bestselling writer Geoff Johns and Jason Fabok, the writer/artist team that waged the “Darkseid War” in the pages of Justice League, reunite to tell the ultimate story of Batman and The Joker!

Build Up

I cannot remember when a comic received more build up than Three Jokers.  Oh wait… “A Death in the Family”… “The Killing Joke”… “The Death of Superman”… but this!

The anticipation to read and drink in not one, but three Jokers? It’s enough to make The Batman Who Laughs pause. Normally we only have two Jokers in a deck of cards, but DC is delivering three.

So settle back, have a cup of coffee, look out your window, and sigh. It’s coming folks! It’s coming!
